How to Make Custom Domains in JJS Skill Builder

Learn how to build better custom Domain Expansions in Jujutsu Shenanigans with a reusable JJS template, clear setup workflow, sure-hit logic, visuals, audio, and testing tips.

Updated for the current JJS Skill Builder feature set. Last reviewed: September 29, 2026.

Is this a character moveset code?

No. XibroPlaysGames shared a custom Domain Expansion builder template, not a complete character. The import is useful because it separates reusable domain pieces from the rest of a moveset: boundary visuals, target handling, activation audio, the main sequence, a longer variation, sure-hit logic, and a visual-only variation.

Use it as a starting point: import the template into JJS Skill Builder, inspect one slot at a time, duplicate your project before editing, and replace the creator's effects with assets and timing that fit your own moveset.

Use the archived Custom Domain template

We saved the complete import code in the Moveset Codes database so it remains available even if the original document changes or disappears. Open the code page to copy or download it, then return here for the setup walkthrough.

The embedded video shows the result in Jujutsu Shenanigans. Keep it open while reviewing the template so you can connect each timeline group with the effect it creates in-game.

What the shared Domain template contains

We inspected the shared import rather than treating it as a character code. Its eight slots include a small test state plus the seven practical helpers below.

sphereA simple Sphere visual helper used to shape or test the domain boundary.
hitboxA repeated hitbox and teleport helper for checking placement and target handling.
open voicesA connected sound sequence that can be replaced with your own activation audio.
domain 3.0The main domain sequence, combining particles, teleporting, animation, hitboxes, sound, counters, states, projectiles, and visuals.
domain longerA longer-duration variation for testing how the sequence behaves when the domain stays active.
domain sure-hitA variation that adds sure-hit-oriented timing and effects; it still needs testing and balancing for your build.
domain visualA visual-focused variation for refining the presentation separately from the combat logic.

The main variations combine Particle, Teleport, Wait, Visual, Animation, Hitbox, Sound, Counter, State, Projectile, and built-in Skill nodes. Visual effects include overlays, cylinders, beams, spheres, and—in the sure-hit variation—flames.

A reliable custom Domain workflow

  1. Build the activation first. Get one animation, voice cue, overlay, and entry effect working before adding combat logic.
  2. Define the space. Use the sphere or other boundary visual to show players where the Domain is active.
  3. Confirm the target. Test the initial hitbox and target state before teleporting either player.
  4. Add the main effect. Layer projectiles, beams, particles, and sound only after the target path is reliable.
  5. Add sure-hit behavior carefully. Keep damage and control tied to a valid target and the active Domain window.
  6. Create an exit path. Cancel temporary states and remove lingering visuals when the sequence ends, misses, or is interrupted.

This order makes debugging much easier. If everything is added at once, a visual failure can look like a targeting problem, while a teleport problem can make a correct hitbox appear broken.

Domain testing checklist

ActivationDoes the opening animation, voice line, overlay, and first teleport happen in the intended order?
BoundaryDoes the sphere or visual shell cover the intended area without hiding the fight?
Target handlingDoes the hitbox find the target before teleport, state, counter, or projectile logic continues?
Sure-hit timingDoes the damaging or control effect run only when the target is inside the active domain flow?
CleanupDo overlays, particles, states, sounds, and temporary effects end when the domain finishes or is interrupted?

Test both hit and miss cases, interruption during startup, multiple targets, mobile performance, and what happens when the Domain ends early. A good-looking Domain is not finished until its cleanup path is safe.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Custom Domain document a complete character moveset?

No. It is a reusable JJS Skill Builder template focused on Domain Expansion setup. Import it as a reference, then adapt its domain slots and effects to your own character moveset.

What is included in the Custom Domain template?

The shared import includes helper slots for a sphere, hitbox, and voices, plus domain, longer-duration, sure-hit, and visual variants. It uses particles, teleporting, overlays, beams, projectiles, counters, sounds, and state logic.

Can I use the template without changing it?

You can import it to study the structure, but you should replace its presentation and tune its timing, hitboxes, damage, sounds, and visuals for your own build. Always test in a private or controlled session first.

Why does a custom Domain work visually but miss players?

The visual shell and combat logic are separate. Check the hitbox location and size, teleport destination, target state, projectile tag, counter window, and sure-hit timing instead of only editing particles or overlays.
